OUR TOP PICKS

Each year, mooncakes (especially those for humans) seem to come in increasingly elaborate packaging. There are mooncakes in individual plastic bases and wrappers with a dessicant, packed in mini boxes, and then placed in a big box which opens up like a window, and slotted into a sleeve. Some extravagant ones even come in drawers or with Bluetooth speakers! These fancy packaging tend to be highly unnecessary and wasteful - not only do they use a lot of resources to make (the sturdier the box, the more paper and plastic you need), they also tend to be impossible to recycle due to their glossy lamination (plastic) and the use of multiple materials within one packaging.

While some boxes can (and should!) be repurposed, there is a limit to how many you can reuse. It also does not negate the problem of unnecessary waste.

With several considerations in mind, TDG’s jelly mooncakes will be packed in individual plastic boxes (because, they’re jelly based and are not made in advance/frozen). However, as with our treats in bulk concept, we welcome BYO! Do let us know should you choose to BYO containers when you self collect them, and we’ll pack them directly in your containers. Feel free to DM us about suitable sizes.

Only sets of 4 assorted ones will be packaged in a simple, floral Kraft box. These boxes are not laminated (unlike your regular Kraft food packaging), which makes them recyclable! However, do save them to reuse if they are still in good condition, because refuse > reuse > recycle. Reuse them as gift boxes (for Christmas?) or return them to us to be used for courier orders in future.

Note: preorder for box set of assorted mooncakes are SOLD OUT.
